The Soundscape Festival is organised under the auspices of ENALA (European Network for Applied Landart).  ENALA is an international project (started 2012) to create a hub for initiatives and stakeholders in rural areas and cultural landscapes from 2012 until 2014. It is coordinated and organized by three project partners of Croatia (Europa Nova Foundation), Germany (Anhalt University of Applied Sciences) and the Netherlands (Stichting Streekfestival Het Groene Woud) and is supported by the EU Culture Programme of the European Union.

The Soundscape Festival hosts young artist from across Europe between 22-26 August 2013 in Osor, Croatia, to create projects along the following guidelines:

  • work around the concept of Applied Landart
  • produce works that are respectfully engage with the centuries of practices of the “applied landscape artists” before us
  • adapt to the unique place – full with meaningful symbolism that have inspired how to build on that background all the way from prehistoric times to the hermits in the early middle ages – up till the visitors today. We need works that are reflecting and emphasizing that unique landscape, eco-system, closeness to the basic elements of sky, water, stones, vegetation, sounds, smells.
  • explore as much as possible the interactions between the given landscape and soundcape. Works that are reflecting on the unique silence / sound / voice interactions are welcomed.
  • works should withstand the weather for several seasons in order to be more permanent than traditional landart works – while adding to the attractive land and soundscape and corresponding feelings of immersion.
